Just a little bad

I took a half day at work today so I could get some things done at home. I arrived at work around 11:45 and my little kiddos were outside at recess. When I walked outside, I saw 20 little people running towards me with arms open!!!! Instantly I was surrounded by 20 of my favorite faces telling me how much they missed me, and how much they loved me. I of course began asking about their day, followed by, "Were you good?" One of my sweet little ones replied, "We were only a little bit bad Miss Shipley!" I couldn't help but laugh at this innocent response.

I love my sweet class, and their honesty!

Copper is Home!

Copper is home!! The vet called around 5 and said Copper's fever had stayed down, and he was keeping all of his medicines in! He will be on medicine for the next 60 days to prevent internal bleeding. I am so thankful that my little puppy will be A-ok! Since the medicine will make him have to g outside frequently, they shaved his hiney, and wrapped up his tail so he wouldn't get anything on himself. He looks pretty pathetic, but I am so thankful he is going to be alright!

Sick Copper with a gimped tail.

Copper

Please pray for my little puppy Copper. I let him follow me out to the garage this morning to take out the trash, and he decided to have rat poison for breakfast. The poison has been out for a very long time, and he has never taken any time to even sniff it, much less eat it, so I wasn't watching him as close as I should have. I thank God that I was with him, and saw him eating it, so I could get him help immediately. I called the emergency vet and they said to come in right away, that the type of poison I had would cause blood clots.

They took Copper and were able to make him throw up most of the poison, but a lot of it was still in his little body. His temp. was 106 (they said normally a dog runs about 102) and his blood was beginning to clot. They are keeping him for now, and should know more by 5:00 today. Please pray for my sweet puppy to recover from this!

I am dream-funny

Sometimes I can be randomly funny. Very rarely do I have the perfect witty comment where I don't miss a beat and just blurt it out at the appropriate moment. I am always in awe of my perfect-timing witty friends.

I am pretty sure that I talk in my sleep. I know that I have cried in my sleep because of a bad dream (see the mouse post from a long time ago) and this post) and I know that I have laughed in my sleep.

Well, last night I was having a dream where I was very witty, and very funny without missing a beat! My friends from work and I were at a garden workshop where we were learning how to rap about the garden. All day I had been bantering back and forth with Justin Timberlake, and were having a wonderful time being funny! (i would have preferred to have Nick Lachey in my dream, but I'll take J.T.). I can't remember what my last witty comment was, but it was so dream-funny, that I woke myself up laughing!

Point of this blog post: IF I can't be witty in real life, at least I can be in my dreams!

"Fat Families"

My class has been learning about fact families. For whatever reason, they just love to make them, find them, and solve them! (I love it!) Today we were solving subtraction problems, and the sum was 8. One of my precious little ones, called out, "Yup, 8 is in the fat family because just look at him! He really is fat!"

Blessings

After a rough weekend, I was looking forward to starting work again today. I can always count on my kiddos to make me laugh and smile, and forget the stress that is waiting for me when I leave work.
Today in the middle of calendar time, I got a phone call from another teacher friend. She told me her daughter was on the way to pick up my car and take it to the repair shop where she works. Her daughter would have it fixed and return it when it was completed! When her sweet daughter arrived, she also brought me my favorite Sonic drink!!!!!!
Sometimes I am overwhelmed how God meets my needs. He knew I was having issues with my steering wheel, and didn't have the time to take care of it. By working through this sweet teacher and her daughter my needs were met!

A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, VERY Bad Day!

Heads up.... Long, and boring...... but kinda funny..... now.

My "Friday the 13th" happened on Saturday the 14th. It all started when I work up early (for me) panicked that I had not completed my part of a group project, and that everyone else was waiting on me to finish so they could do their part. So, I drug the laptop into my nice warm bed, to finish working on the project. When I finished that assignment, I happened to check Blackboard (the program DBU uses for our class) and noticed a note from my professor that she had not received my paper that I had sent her last Sunday. She said I had until 5:00 to turn it in to her in the digital drop box. AAA!!! I hate being late, and hate that I hadn't done something right. So...... So, I posted my paper again and then sent her an email with the paper attached just in case. I assumed everything had been taken care of and went along my merry way getting ready for the day to meet my mom, Grandmother, and my mom's friend for lunch. I was half way to lunch when my iphone :) beeped that I had a new email. I checked it and saw that the professor still hadn't received the paper the way she wanted it and that if it wasn't turned into the digital drop box by 5 pm, I would not receive full credit. After lunch we had all planned to go to the mall, but my sweet family said it would be ok, to stop at McDonalds to let me connect to their WiFi, to post my paper. My mom is a professor and has her students use blackboard all the time, so I was planning on having her walk me through the steps to posting my paper. Well, after 20 minutes of unsuccessful tries to connect to the internet, we learned that I chose the only McDonalds EVER that didn't have WiFi.
No problem. It was only 3:30. We ran across the street to Starbucks. Well, guess what, you have to pay to use their internet (not the problem) and it isn't an instant connection. EEESH!!!! So while my mom and her friend ran into the mall to get what they needed, I searched the mall for a wifi spot. I can't believe that a mall THAT large doesn't offer WiFi. SURELY I am not the only person who has ever wanted an internet connection at the mall. Geeze Louise!
No problem... It was now 3:56. I had one hour and four minutes. We decided that it would be best for me to drive home and take care of the issue. Only problem, was that we were stuck in traffic. My handy dandy little iphone let me know that it was backed up for 4 miles, and not moving. So, we exited and headed back to my Grandmother's house
We pull into the driveway at 4:47. By 4:50, I was on her computer trying to log onto blackboard. Well, guess what...... my account had frozen. I had to call the IT. and even they could not unfreeze my account. At that point I was ready to give up, and take a bad grade for a really good paper that was done before the deadline! I sadly emailed my professor to let her know what had happened. 10 minutes later she emailed me to let me know that since I had communicated with her she would not penalize me for the paper being late. WHEW!
A little while later I was at another spot with Internet, and I tried one more time. I called the IT person to walk me through sending my paper the correct way. (He had me do the exact same steps I had done at 11 that morning.) He was also able to check to see if my paper went through. .... He was able to see not only the one I posted on the phone with him, but also the one I had done at 11 am that morning. ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED!!!!!!!!
On the way home I stopped at the grocery store for some groceries. I unloaded all the groceries onto the little counter, and let the checker ring up all the groceries....... She told me the total, and I went to pay....... NO WALLET!!!! I had left that back at my grandmother's house on her computer table. I took the walk of shame and headed for home.

Now, after writing it all out, it sure doesn't seem like it was all THAT bad, but in the moment, I felt like everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

Today was much better... I was able to sleep in, see almost all of my extended family for our February b-day celebration, and then ended the day by having dinner with friends, and seeing a really funny movie!
